2008 Season Preview

Last year: 5-4 PAC-10; 6-6 overall.
Offense: Wide receivers Andy Ellison (Jr., 6-0, 180). Andrew McDonald (So., 5-6. 155) and David McDonald (So., 5-6, 165); Tight ends Mike Horan (Jr., 6-0, 185) and Rich Iannelli (Sr., 6-0, 200); Tackles Jesse Ercole (Sr., 6-1, 210) and Mike Yeakle (Jr., 6-5, 285); Guards Aaron Cummins (Jr., 5-11, 220), Brian Dougherty (Sr., 5-11, 285) and Michael Stephenson (Jr., 5-11, 195); Center Justin Franiak (5-11, 300); Quarterback Trevor Sasek (Sr., 6-6, 195); Fullback Nick Caggiano (Sr., 5-7, 180); Running back David Tyler (Jr., 5-9, 170); and Placekicker Jarred Houck (Sr. 5-6. 145).
Defense: Ercole and Matt Krueger (So., 5-9, 160); Tackles Matt DiPaul (Jr., 5-11, 240), Stephenson and Yeakle; Noseguard Chris Krumenecker (Sr., 5-9, 165): Linebackers James Hoff (So., 5-8, 150), Iannelli and Andrew March (Jr., 5-10, 185); Backs David McDonald, Moyo Wills (Jr., 6-0, 170) and Tyler; and Punter Sasek.
Quotable: "We're young in some ways, but we do have some experience in some spots," Rhodenbaugh said. "We feel pretty good about some of the guys up front, like Franiak, our three guards and Ercole at one of the tackles. And we're expecting a strong year from Sasek. He lost three very good receivers (to graduation), so he's going to have to adjust to the younger kids (Ellison and McDonald twins)."
Notes: Sasek, who is approaching a number of school records and could pass by some area marks as well with another big season, is getting a lot of looks from Division I-AA schools. ... Iannelli could develop into one of the PAC-10's top middle linebackers.
