2007 Season Preview

Classification: District 1 Class AAA
Head coach: Rick Pennypacker, 19th season (102-56-3 PAC-10; 166-112-3 overall)
Last year's record: 6-3 PAC-10, 8-3 overall
Key offensive players: Mike Noto, G; Aaron VanBuskirk, T; Tyler Hallman, T; Oliver Reid, TE; Steve Nissley, WR; Tyrill Bell, FB; Andre Glover, TB; Anthony Williamson, TB; Maika Polamalu, TB; Rick Martz, QB; Ryan Christopher, K
Key defensive players: Julius Williams, DE; Oliver Reid, LB; Barry Craig, LB; Steve Nissley, SS; Andre Glover, CB; Josh Klaptosky, CB; Anthony Williamson, FS
Outlook: Falcons return six starters on offense, six starters on defense as well as starting kicker/punter Ryan Christopher. ... Tailback/cornerback Maika Polamalu and cornerback Terrell Chestnut are the only two freshmen expected to be significant contributors this season. Polamalu is a cousin of Pittsburgh Steelers three-time Pro Bowl strong safety Troy Polamalu. ... "On paper, we have back what is the most important part, I think," said Pennypacker. "The offensive line. We have four of five starters from last year. You've got to have that cohesion. That's something we're looking forward to. We have to grow up at some positions. If we do mature, take care of the fundamentals, do the little things right, we can be competitive. We are so far away from lining up with the elite in the PAC-10 like Lansdale Catholic, Perkiomen Valley, Boyertown, Phoenixville. We're not even there yet. But we can be competitive if our kids continue to improve."
