Last year: 6-3 PAC-10; 8-4 overall.
Offense: Wide receiver Khalil Ervin (Sr., 6-0, 175); tight ends; tackles Mike Cress (Sr., 6-2, 184) and Kevin Bohl (Jr., 6-4, 263); guards Matthew Viscuso (Jr., 6-1, 167) and Ken Cenci (So. 5-10, 226); center Steven Carter (Jr., 5-11, 235); quarterback Thomas Romano (So., 6-0, 154); running backs Abdul Kelly (Sr., 5-8, 168), Anthony Nattle (Sr., 6-1, 187) and Rich Yenchick (Jr., 5-9, 165).
Defense: End Dave Eggeling (Sr., 5-11, 164); interior linemen Kelly, Cenci and Cress; linebackers Vincent Ciaverelli (Jr., 6-0, 173) Samuel McQuiston (Jr., 5-6, 166), Derek Ryan (Jr., 5-8, 153), Viscuso and Yenchick; cornerbacks Will Killeen (Sr., 6-0, 171) and Nattle; safety Ervin.
Kickers: Punter Killeen and placekicker John McInally (So., 5-10, 170).
Quotable: "I think, overall, we have a lot of young guys starting ... six on offense, four on defense. We like the talent level and work ethic of our younger guys. They're doing well, but it will sort of depend on how fast they overcome the learning curve. We have some better running backs in Nattle and Kelly, but a young quarterback. It will take pressure off him if we can run."
Notes: Kelly returns to the offensive backfield after working at center last year. Furlong related how Kelly, a second-team All-PAC nose guard his junior season, volunteered to play on the line to help alleviate injury issues and see more time on the field.
