2008 Season Preview

Last year: 2-7 PAC-10, 3-9 overall.
Offense: Wide receivers Steve Lawless (Jr., 5-9, 169) and Kevin Fitch (Sr., 5-10, 155); tight ends Brad Davis (Jr., 5-11, 195), and Francis Polignano (Jr., 6-2, 188): tackles Sam Odle (Sr., 6-6, 210) and Mike Klinger(Jr., 6-0, 246); guards Sam Morgan (Sr.. 6-3, 242) and Sean Moloney (So., 5-10, 193); center Nelson Munoz, Jr. (Sr.. 6-0, 230): quarterback Dan Miller (Sr.. 5-9, 165); fullbacks Richard Zazo (Jr., 5-11, 220); Cory Bissland (Sr., 5-11, 210) and Scott Syrek (So., 5-10, 210); and tailbacks Ryan Brumfield (So., 5-10, 165), Bissland, and Syrek.
Defense: Ends Bissland and Kyle Moore (So., 6-2, 213): interior lineman Morgan and Moloney; linebackers Syrek, Zazo, and Sam Funk (So., 6-0, 185): cornerbacks Miller and Lawless; and safeties Brumfield and Fitch.
Kickers: Punter Zach Lepore (Jr., 6-1, 171) and placekickers Lepore and Polignano.
Quotable: "We're a very young team." said Barr. "We're going to play with a lot of 10th and 11th graders. We're looking to improve with each game in execution and improve our intensity level. We're looking for a nine, ten-game winning season. That's what we're shooting for."
Notes: Miller, a third-year starter, passed for 1,064 yards and 10 touchdowns last year and Brumfield ran for 773 yards and caught 10 passes for 208 last season as a freshman. ... Wildcats plan to run an I-formation and prefer to run the ball and will play a 4-3 front defense. ... Barr is 70-57 all-time with the Wildcats, including a 54-45 PAC-10 mark.
